Hey, my relatively new 2001 paint is peeling, I wonder if anyone knows what the warranty is on that? Thanks.

Check your owners manual warranty section. But you will need to discuss the issue with VWoA's representative. Where is it peeling? Send me a picture as I would like to see.
Honda had to re-paint several hundred 2003 Accords after they showed wear and even peeling (in a few instances) after only a few weeks on te road. The paint should be warrantied for most of the 5 year/60,000 mile period that the car itself is covered for. Although their maybe loopholes in the laws about paint warranties if you live in an area where it snows heavily, the roads are salted for weeks on end during the winter, and the car gets parked outside. I've seen cars in Park City, Utah start showing paint wear within 3 years when they aren't garaged and well cared for. Steve Grauman
Actually, parking outside tends to be regarded as easier on a car that is covered in salt (as they are around here for about 3 months each winter). Bringing the car inside a garage usually means bringing the temperature up close to, or above freezing, and that just makes it easier for the salt to do it's damage.
To be more precise - the paint is peeling on the side door, a little bit above the mirror. What seems to be peeling is the top (shiny) coating of it.
well, I live in Texas so the salt on the road issue here is not a problem :)
Clearcoat peel usually is a result of contaminant on the base before the clear goes on, or abnormal heat exposure. I don't know what kind of painting system is used on VW's.
