Vehicle ID Number

Hello If you look at a Vehicle ID Number, can you tell if the vehicle is a four wheel drive. Here is an example of a VIN number from a 1997 Chevrolet C-2500
1GCGK29J0VE164679 Here is an example of a VIN number from a 1997 FORD F-250 TRUCK, VIN: 1FTFX28L2VKC74649 If not, what can you tell from it? Thanks

The Chevy is a 4x4. Dunno about the Ford. You can tell more info from it but I don't have a link to the page at the moment...

yep
the 5th character will be a C for 2wd or K for a 4wd. the 6th caracter (1,2, or 3) will be 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton) respectively and the 7th number is the body style (a 4 is a reg cab long box) .

The chevy is a 4x4 6.2 diesel as engine code J ,the 10th digit v tells year , 1987
