Ignition cables - 2000 Concorde -3.5 L - 111Kmiles

Rob - I've been using the T-rated on my 2 Concordes and my wife's Buick Century. Surprised to hear that you say they are a little noisy. Cooper has a bunch of characteristics on each tire with a slider scale, and "Quiet" is one of the categories. Both the T and H/V rated are shown with the "Quiet" slider max'ed out to the right. I'm not doubting what you're saying - I was just surprised as I find mine (at least the T rated ones) to be extremely quiet after the nightmare I had with hi-perf tires. It made the noise bearable as the LH cars do amplify tire noise. When I switched over, the silence was deafening. :)

BTW - it was someone here who originally recommended the Cooper SLE's (discontinued and replaced by the CS4's) to me 6 or 8 years ago.

the noise is quite possibly the crappy roads out here. they have no gravel for blacktop production so they use sand and seashells.

plus at 174,000 miles my front struts, and mounts are gone. that the NEXT project.

After a LOT of reading and talking to folks driving heavy cars (or at least cars in the ballpark weight as mine), I settled on four Goodyear Assurance ComforTred P225/60R16 97T S1, valve stems, life-time balance and rotations. road hazard, and front end alignment for $505.99 tax included after $40 mail-in rebate. I've been riding on them for four days... one snow fall included. Very comfortable... firm grip... I'm pleased.

The 2'nd generation Concorde has a curb weight of about 3,525 lbs. Not exactly what I'd call a heavy car.

Tirerack sells the comfortred for $110 per tire. That tire ranks 7 in the catagory "all season radial" (ie - the "nothing special" tire catagory).

For $123 you could have the Assurance TripleTred, which ranks #2 in that catagory, or for $125 the Michelin HydroEdge (#1).

The least expensive tire in your tire size is the Fuzion HRi ($64) ranked 8'th in the High Performance All-Season catagory. Also in the high-performance all-season, for $87 you could have the Bridgestone Potenza G 019 (ranked 4'th). The Potenza is the highest-ranked high-performance all season tire available in your tire size.

check back with us in 20,000 miles. I'd be curious to see how your tread wear is going. i know some good years only last about 25-30,000

With a treadwear rating of 700, it ought to do pretty good. Or are you saying that Goodyear is a little dishonest with their treadwear ratings?

don't know about that model of Goodyear's. but the eagle GTs i had didnt last long and others have said the same. Hence the reason i am now running coopers

I just looked up the GT's on tirerack.com and they are 400 or 440 depending on size, which is low or mediocre for treadwear ratings these days - maybe typical of the so-called hi-performance tires, which as I've said IMO are low value partly due to that.

I too prefer Coopers (I had a bad experience with Goodyear many years ago), but to be fair to Goodyear, if the ComforTreds are rated 700 in comparison to the GT at 400/440, then I would expect their tread to last a bit longer accordingly. Treadwear rating is one of the main things I look at when choosing a tire. If it's below 620, that's a show stopper

i didnt look at tread wear rating when i got them, i was looking at comfort and the ability to handle rain and the tread looked good enough to do that
