peugoet parner 1.9d faults

Hi all new boy here...

i have a peugoet partner 1.9d x reg....the following problem has occured driving along the rev counter stopped working van still run ok though i stopped turned off the ignition went to start it again however there was no battery light, ecu light, glow plug light basically nearly all the dash light did not although the van started again. but indicators, washer wipe, inside fan did not work untill i rev?d the engine then the battery light came on and went off and every worked. turned off the engine went to start it up again no lights again and no washer etc. also the when first started the battery is charging at 11.9v untill i rev it then the batt light comes and goes off battery charges at 14.3v.

sorry it is so long winded has any one any idea of what the problem could be.....oh and all fuses are intact. many thanks

I'll start with a disclaimer: I'm by no means an expert, so take everything I say with a cellar or two of salt...

However, it sounds like at the very least the regulator in the alternator has malfunctioned, so a recon. alternator is probably the first step. If the regulator did go pop, then you could potentially have had quite large voltages on the +v supply. I'm not familiar enough with the electronics on the Partner to say for sure, but it's possible that the module controlling the dash, instruments and accessories has been damaged if high voltages were present for any length of time.

I'd start with a recon. alt. and if that doesn't cure the problem start looking at wiring diagrams for common elements to all the items which aren't working normally.
