Witch doctor needed

Or someone in that line of work... Once again, a bad part cometh my way. Putting a new set of rings on a new set of pistons today and the LAST ring broke before I even got it completely loaded into the little ring installer tool. I just stood there for a while...couldn't friggin believe it... Maybe I need a witch doctor to get rid of this "spell". Called the vendor..wasn't even going to ASK about warranty, but he had another .030 set on the shelf that had already been robbed of a few...hmm....makes ya wonder about the REST of them... They will be here on Monday. So much for finishing up the engine this weekend. On a lighter note, I got mad and dragged out the stuck-from-sitting for thirty years cloverleaf and managed to carefully knock out the remaining stuck lifters and pop the cam out. The engine was put in a car but then the guy got sick. The car sat in a field (on it's brake drums) for so long the oil pan rusted out. I now have saved all of it except for maybe the rods. For some reason they have nasty rusty chunks out of them, probably because they didn't get a coating of assembly lube or cosmoline or whatever they used at the factory. The lifters were stuck because a critter had made a home inside the lifter valley after someone robbed the distributor. Studebaker George

George I have a friend in Steward FL that needs a 185 six. Do you have any? It is for a 6 cyl. 1956 Champion. I have some here but shipping is out of the question. You are closer. Thanks Bob Kapteyn snipped-for-privacy@mac.com
