i have the electric sunroof. i have lubed the tracks and the sunroof will open fine but will not close. no matter where i stop the sunroof while it is opening, pressing the close switch won't make it budge. i have to open itup and manually crank it back into position using the allen wrench. any idea why it would open but not close? thanks.

jasdak, it is possible that the problem may lie solely with the switch - check with a continuity meter that pressing the close switch actually makes a circuit connection. Should the switch work, then as Tony suggests, you should check the microswitches that ride on the reference wheel and sense the position of the sunroof - it is possible that the switch that senses the max. forward position has broken, and will not allow the motor to wind the roof forward any more. Also, you should be careful lubing the sunroof - IME (and others'), grease or oil tends to dry and collect dirt and in the long term tends to foul up the system. Someone on Audifans suggested that things like the drive cables should be "lubed with WD40 only". Cheers! Steve Sears

Never just lube it. Clean and lube it. Always clean first. Always.
