88 Chevy P/U Will Not Start Cold But........

88 Chevy P/U Will Not Start Cold But........when I pour gas into the TBI it starts fine and runs fine. There possibly could be a cold start injector but I am having trouble finding info on how to troubleshoot this. When I crank the engine cold the two main injectors spray 3 times and then shut off. I have replaced a faulty fuel pump and the fuel filter (1 month ago) and the truck ran fine until now. The engine is a 305 cid and the computer is not setting any codes. Does anyone have any ideas and does anyone have a flow chart of what the engine should be doing during startup. It is odd that it runs so well once started but getting it started is such a problem.

Thanks in advance everyone!!!!!

Sounds like your fuel pump relay is kaput. There is no cold start injector, that was a feature of the TPI system. Once your ECM sees oil pressure, the fuel pump should turn on. This is a limp home feature in case the relay takes a dump. How long do you crank the motor when you try to start it cold? Turn the key on and listen for the pump to run about two seconds, then shut off. This should pressurize the system. If you don't hear the pump, there's a good chance the relay is shot. Good hunting, Tim sends
