Do the trannies in these work off a computer? Mine is misbehaving and that's what it seems like.

On my 1998 model, I think whole thing works off a computer. One time mine went bad. I called a friend, who suggestted that the computer is over the passenger side front wheel. It has several multi pin wiring connections. Pull the wiring off, one at a time. Spray with WD-40 and put back on. Worked, for me.

What's it doing? There are a few known problems with the 4L60E that involve mechanical failure of specific parts. VERY seldom computer related though.

I would Never use WD-40 on electrical connections.

I got an '02 with a 5 speed. Don't think it cares about the computer....but I have sprayed WD on the plugs when I had mine off (the computer)....went back on nicely and no problems. Pete

That was my experience, the dose of WD made them go back on. I had a couple dash gages go wrong, and the plugs and WD treatment brought them back to life.

Took it to a mechanic today. He said there were a bunch of codes on fluid restriction. They have some kind of device which forces fluids through it. They do it several times. finally gets it cleaned up. They think that will do.

Sounds like you found the right shop. Good job.
