Cabin Filter

Good question. I was told I had on in my '05 Tahoe but cannot find it.

No cabin air filters on 04 pickups. Something about it not working with the dual zone heating system.

Don`t know where you got your info,but I have one.Some places said I do,and some said I don`t.So I took a look,and there it was.

It`s under the glove box. 2 screws to get the cover off.2 minute job.

Don't bother, the instructions do not apply to '04 models. If you remove your kickplate you will not find a cover or the filters. On my '04 you can look at the plastic and see where the filter access cover should be (including a slot for one end and a hole where the cover screw should go) but the access opening is molded solid. The kickplate is no joy to remove either as there are 4 screws, one of which is located in a hole with very limited access because the hump in the floor doesn't give you much room for a tool to get in. I guess after the '02 model year GM decided that it wasn't worth it to have a cabin air filter, or maybe they caused too many problems.

I have an 04, that is where I get my info. No cabin air filter. In fact I think 03s don't have one either. I notice the link David sent is for up to 02. I don't know what 2 screws you removed but just to get the housing off there are 3, than another1 to access the 2 filters. There are some foam pieces in there for sound control, around the fan motor but I have no place for any filters. Call the parts department and ask for cabin filters for your 04 see if any are listed.

What does a set of filters cost? TIA, MR

$20 for the 'After Market' WIX or FRAM Filter Pair, (ID CF-104 equivalent).

About $40 if you buy GM AC Delco CF-104 boxed pair..

Installation can run about $30....... It is not real fun to replace.

Thanks a bunch. Just finished changing the filters and I found that prices were varied just as you mentioned. I had forgotten to change the filters until the post here. You are right on all 3 items and it was a bitch to get that last screw back in over the center hump. Thanks again. MR

MR, When I changed mine, I did not totally remove the screw by the center hump. I just made is loose enough so I could swing the cover out of the way to get at the filter housing. Made the job much easier.
