GMC Serria Rear Glass

Jan 21, 2005 1 Replies

I have a 2000 GMC Serria, the dealer installed an after market rear sliding glass window. I want to have the sliding glass removed. The problem is the glass was glued to the body metal.

The glassman tells he can remove the after market frame and sliding glass. The new window will be recessed and flush with the body metal, however the glue that was used to secure the frame will show.

I thought there must be a way to remove the old glue. Can this be done? I suspect the glass guy just did not want to be bothered with the task of removing the glue. Thanks for your help.

By the way I love my truck 240,000+ mile, very few problems. William E. Swank, Sr weswanksr@aol

Yes it can be removed, anything can be removed. the glass man doesn't want to be responsible for damaging the paint and giving rust a footing on the truck. depending on the glue used, the solvent to remove it may remove the paint as well. Whitelightning
