One of my tailgate cables snapped on my 2000 S10. I see many places that offer replacements and so far, S10s aren't on a recall list.
I went to remove the bracket on the tailgate...but there's a spring that seems to be holding it in place and I was afraid to pull too hard and "sproing" it would snap back inside the tailgate and I wouldn't be able to get it out.
But I noticed that there is a fairly substantial rivet holding the cable at the tailgate side. Is this cut off when replacing the cables? And what have folks replaced this with when attaching the new cable?
