Boo f**king hoo. You looking for a pity party? Eee Eee made a rookie mistake in his "diagnosis." I very delicately suggested that he made a bad guess. He then resorted to pithy name calling. After receiving numerous posts telling him that he was in fact wrong, he continued. So, who's the hateful, name-calling, pompous ass? IMHO it's the Webbie and you're all bent out of shape for nothing. It was "one of your own" who started this whole thing, why point the finger at those not responsible?

Doesn't show up on the World's Crappiest News Server (registered)...Google Groups won't let me post over there and I'm too lazy thus far to see if some of the free news servers allow it.

Hi!
Maybe the 17+ pounds of vacuum is what you get when you stack a few vacuums on top of one another.

Please don't leave, Eee Eee....you are too much fun. The newsgroup is boring until you Webbies come around to play. It would be nice if you could figure out how to quote the post that you are replying to. It makes you look smarter too. This is easy stuff, you know....newsgroups 101.....try to keep up!

Since Big O's first and only post was him anouncing he was leaving, how will we ever know if he is really gone or if he is still here and just not saying anything? Or will anyone even care? Never mind........ nobody cares. Bob
Hi!
ATC, boring? Eh? Nah, it's always a party around here. Something's always happening that's worth watching.
By the way, shiden_Kai, that was a cool movie you made of the SSR's top. I was wondering just how it worked and haven't seen any at the dealerships to, uhhh, test drive...that is, if they'd let me!

You guys are way too technical for me on these Chevy leaks. I can't leave any oil where I park my old Chevy so that's a problem right there. I made a giant sub pan attached to the bottom of the engine complete with anti-slosh baffles. There's a thum screw on the bottom and I drain it periodically. Sometimes there's a bit of water from rain, but not much. My parking space is clean.
sounds like a Dr dorkieo remedy.
did doc-o tell you to use the oil over too?
Is dardwin back? Where the hell is Checky when we need him. Sheesh what a jerk.
He's a jerk, but damn entertaining! I haven't laughed this hard at someone's complete inability to use their brain in a long time.......................

Ahhh lighten up man! All in good fun. Can't take anything in life too seriously or it'll drive you nucking futs.
Where exactly are the lines leaking?
Doc
line.....sheeesh.
Yeah, well, he must be suffern' from erectile dysfunction. Too much viagra must have affected his brain cells. They think they are bigger than they are.
Really the way it is leaking is weird. Right at the transmission, where the lines connect. I can't tell if it's the top or the bottom, or both. Fluid is everywhere so I can't tell if it's coming out at the threads (transmission to compression nut), or between the nut and the line - etc. I haven't done the marsh monster fix and cleaned it up with brake cleaner (I understand getting some amount in your eyes and hitting your head on a hard object is a necessary part of this procedure - maybe marsh can post the bulletin on this?)
That should be enough to make some guesses, here is a full history:
See the OEM line had rusted out on a bend and was getting the passenger side front of the car from the axle back soaked. Failed on inspection because it was getting on/near the brakes. Hadn't even noticed with how much time I spent under the truck... So I decide to replace both the lines, run everywhere to find lines of the right size and length (actually got couplers and 1' sections because I didn't think 5' was enough from my measurements). Attaching to the cooler isn't all that hard, but it was hard to get the right angle to the tranny. But after enough fighting I got it done, and I squeaked past inspection. Well I notice that it is leaking at the joint to the tranny, so I undo the lines and inspect them for cross threading because of how hard it was to get them on. Just like Doc guessed.... I didn't use any teflon tape, even though I wanted too very badly. I remember someone who said they were an engineer saying it was very bad for hydraulic systems... Any more input on this? Well it stopped leaking as much as it did, but it didn't stop. Well I put up with it for a few weeks, it never actually left drips or anything, just never dried up. So little I didn't really notice a drop in the fluid level. Finally got under it and decided to tighten it up. Got under and tightened it, nothing special. Installed my front drive shaft at the same time, some other piddley stuff. Started leaking ALLOT more, and is still doing it. 1qt a week at least (250-300miles). Currently stuck and being made fun of!
My only thoughts are;
The threads on the transmission are different than the threads on the cooler. Like NPT on the cooler and metric thread on the tranny or something.
Maybe the bend in the line made the flare fitting elliptical and it doesn't want to seal?
Or I loosened the line when I thought I tightened it. I highly doubt this, but seeing as it got worse when I 'tightened' it......
Or, the second time I put it on it got cross threaded and when I tightened it, it didn't seal as well. In this case some kind of problem has to exist despite my threading...

Like Marsh said, you need to hose her down with at least 1 can of brake parts cleaner (keep yer' nose away from the spray, it stinks like hell when you're under a vehicle with all that shatt flying in the air), let dry, fire her up and scramble like a madman to get under there quickly and see exactly where it's leaking. Could be a bad compression union, could be the flare ain't seated in the AT case correctly. You need to find out where it's coming from before you can fix it.

(transmission
something's not right if 'the threads on the transmission are not the same as the threads on the cooler'
they're both 5/16" flare
could he be screwing the line directly into the transmission case without the usual fitting that's there ? (Took it off with old line?)
Didn't think about that. I've had em' come out a few times with the old lines due to corrosion between the two.
