1988 Lancer window regulator tape replacement

Sep 21, 2006 0 Replies

Hello All:

It is a beautiful day, and I am crusing down the road in my beloved

1988 Lancer Shelby. Let's turn the AC off and roll down the windows.

Classic problem; window went half way down and the motor just whirrls away. No Up, No Down, just loud motor whirring.

I stopped by ye ol Chrysler dealer and got a replacement tape for $25.

Now, it has been about 10 years since I tackled this job, but I recall drilling out many revits, unwinding a LONG track from a small opening in the door panel (a feat in itself), cutting the new tape to fit and threading onto track, trying to remember how to get that LONG regulator track back inside that little door opening, and reassembly.

I thought I read somewhere that you could rethread the new tape without removal of the regulator's track?

Any tips, or tricks apprecaited! Thanks,

Bill
