My wife's 1996 Neon hesitates occasionally in drive or reverse. This is most noticeable from a dead stop when the engine is cold, or when initially ascending a slope or hill. No problems climbing the hill or keeping the car moving, though.
Is this a belt problem? If so, what belt...or is there something else
