I just ran the HVAC self test on my '97 caravan. It takes its time going through - then winds up with the rear wiper button doing a slow blink. I was under the impression that no lights would be on if all was OK. Would anyone know what this code means ?
Thanks Mark

Not so simple. First which wiper LED is flashing? Wipe or Intermittent? Fail/fault codes have 3 levels on heat only systems, 4 levels on an AC equipped system and 5 levels on dual zone AC systems. The rear wipe LED flashing slowly is actually flashing 'one' on each rotation cycle (kind of like the old MIL or SES or check engine light giving codes), indicating it is displaying failure codes for level 1, with the code value flashing on the rear intermittent wipe LED.
Pressing the Wipe switch will cycle the fail/fault level through the levels. Levels 2-5 are actually for manual test fail indications for the selector potentiometers and Fin temperature and require further action on your part to complete. BUT....
Assuming you were looking at the wipe LED flashing a level of 1, and the intermittent LED is not flashing, meaning level 1, code 0, this is good. The meaning is All Tests Pass.

Thanks Mike !
The wipe led was doing a slow flash. It has rear AC. I wound up pressing it and it stopped. I just finished replacing the blower motor resistor - so I wanted to run the full test. I could not remember if the flshing wipe led was a good or bad thing. It sounds like if I ever really run into a code, I would need the shop manual.
thanks again,
Mark

How does one run the HVAC self test? I have seen this in the past on this ng but I have never paid attention. If someone could reply with the details I would appreciate it. Thanks!
