Set clock on '89 Caravan

If there isn't any pushbuttons marked "H" and "M" beside the clock, try pushing the "SET" button, then the "SELECT" (or "PROGRAM" button on some radios) button. This should bring up just the hour number, and you set it by using the "TUNE" up/down button.

That was my guess also. But none of that seemed to work for the clock, although setting stations was straightforward.

To set the clock, I've tried holding the set and select button while trying the volume and tuner dials. Nothing I've tried works, and I've tried various combinations (like hold the set button for five seconds or so, release and then press it again). Nor are there any tiny holes by the clock, to set it with a paperclip.

I'm starting to think there are exactly two ways to set this clock - one way is to disconnect and then reconnect the battery at 12 noon and the other way is to do the same at 12 midnight.

Did you make sure the radio was on when you tried the set, select.........?

No instructions in your owner's manual??

I tried it mostly with the radio off. With the radio on, all I accomplished was discovering how to save a radio station preset.

The owner's manual says to check the sound system manual, which is missing...

Interesting.... My 2002 Caravan's manual gives the info for every model stereo system offered by the factory.

Do not hold any of the buttons while hitting another one. Make sure the radio is ON, or it will not work. With the radio on, hit "set". This should come up with a "P" (or "P1" for 10 preset radios)on the display. When this "P" is on, hit the "sel" button, this should now show "12:"

You said this is an infinity radio in an '89 van, so I am guessing it is the one with all buttons and no knobs, with the "ON/OFF" button in the lower left corner; is this correct?

Only 5 preset buttons on mine.

That did it! Thank you! After the "12" was up, the "tune" button advanced the hours. Pressing "sel" again brought up the minutes.

I'd have never figured this out on my own because as soon as I saw the "P1" I assumed that was only for the radio preset.

If your display read "P1" as you have said, this radio is capable of storing 10 presets. If you hit the "SET" button a second time, the display should read "P2", and pick one of your preset buttons to store the station in.

So, if there are two similar genre stations you want on the same button (say, jazz on 92.5 and 101.7 to be stored on preset "1"), you can store both stations on one button. To access the second preset (101.7), just simply hit button "1" a second time.

In 88-9, the cars came with a separate manual for the sound systems. It included all of the sound systems that Chrysler offered.

I'm sorry I couldn't have been of help. I had an 88 Reliant Wagon with the premium radio (very similar to the Infinity System, but with regular speakers). Unfortunately, I got rid of it so long ago, I couldn't remember how to set it. It sounds like everything worked for the best.
