Squeeze / pinch the oil-pipe closed (why didn't they listen to me?)

Remember how I said, about a week after the oil rig was sunk by atorpedo fired by a North Korean mini-sub, that they should pinch theoil-pipe closed between a pair of hydraulically-operated roller pins?Why didn't they listen to me?So now they're going to cut it wide open (presumably near the wellhead).Why not pinch it shut at that location instead, and then cut it offabove the pinch, and then place their dome above the whole thing tocollect what-ever drips out?
