428 ci & C6

I just found a 428 and matching C6 tranny that was in a T bird but the old man that has it for sell forgot what year it was.Does anyone know what production years this combo was available in T-birds.I bought the setup for the tranny more than the motor but at $200.00 and a guarantee that the tranny is good I had to go for motor also.I am assuming that the tranny will work on a 390 ci --76 f-150 PU.If anyone know different drop me a note Thanks for your time Ken Blevins

428?, sure it wasn't a 429? don't recall a 428 being in the Bird, may be wrong though. mid 60's to into the 70's had the 429. What a torque monster the one in my 69 bird was. spun the tires on the rims, literally. Dan

As for fitting, the oil pan would present a problem, I think the cars are reversed from the trucks. Dan

I think 68 was the last 428.At least in Mustang.A friend of mine is a Blue Oval nut.He says C-4,C-6,and FMX are interchangeable if you use the bell housing that came with the trans.

the tranys in themselves are interchangable but the bell housings are eng family specific. and the c6 the bellhousing is not removable. also the crossmembers were not always the same. KB
