Bakelite

The steering wheel centre with indicator switch and horn push on my old MG are bakelite, does anyone know the best way to clean this stuff up? There is also a small crack in the indicator switch, can I fill it with anything?

Good info, thanks Richard. I found "repairing bakelite" produced a good result too.
