Strange Problem

Aug 05, 2004 2 Replies
2000 Ex limited AWD V8 I sometimes have a very wild shaking/vibrating/ in the front end. It can happen mostly on the interstate but can also happen anywhere. There is nothing for certain that I can do to reproduce it. I have checked the wheels for bearings by local auto store. When it happens I think a wheel is going to fall off, or some other part will break, I mean that it is very bad wild front shaking and vibration. Just had front brakes done, but took it back and they installed new set of rotors from NAPA but it didn't help.

One said I may have air bubble in the power steering, could that cause this type of thing?

Please give me some help/ideas. thanks, Bill

You don't say how you get the shaking / vibrating to go away, but I suggest that you check your tyre pressures! (Using a different airline to the one you last used!). I once had a similar problem here in the UK with a Range Rover - it turned out that the garage airline was reading waaaay too low and as a result the tyres (sorry, tires) were greatly over-inflated.
