1993 Ford Ranger 4.0L

does a 1993 Ford Ranger 4.0L have a timing belt?

i am having trouble with my truck with a sqealing, squeaking noise and it has died a couple of times even with the belt taken off and was thinking the timing belt needed to be replaced but i was told that this truck had no timing belt and that it might be some type of major engine problem.

No timing belt on a 4.0

Where is the squealing coming from ?? Front engine ???

it is squealing from the top of the engine, right near the back of the hood (windshield area)

If it's a manual trans, I would suspect a throwout bearing. If it is a manual, does it make the noise when you push in the clutch? If not, it's the bearing. You could also check for: Loose spark plugs Loose exhaust bolts Loose rocker arm (need to pull valve covers) Blown head gasket Vacuum leak

Best to isolate exactly where the noise is coming from. A length of broom handle or a long screwdriver held to various parts of the engine and to your ear should be able to narrow it down.

I have a 94 in my fleet, best to replace all of the lines. Turns out they are almost all a special size. I went to ford to pick em up. (by the foot) They didnt charge me, they just gave em to me.
