94 F-350 tie rod

Jul 09, 2003 2 Replies

Just changed the inner(LH forward) tie rod. The old one clunked when twisted but the new one does a little. Not as much as the old one. Does anyone have a 94 that they could check to see if they have a slight clunk when the tie rod is twisted? Never did this before and never owned a Ford before now so I'm not sure if this is correct or not.

Clunking when twisting is normal. What you need to do is squeeze them (straight up and down) with channel lock pliers. If there is play when you do that, THEN they are bad.
