FORD ECONOLINE VAN UPGRADES

My 2008 is inspected n repainted: two glassed holes in right rear quarter panels at the fender well. Vandalism in Cleveland.

After inspecting the roof stop light, the rain gutter was flooded with whit e Rusto. Rear and side sills repainted with Rusto. A commercial green scrub pad from Home Depot works with Megware's wash soap for grease and oxidatio n removal. Use a separate clean pad to finish.

I moved to the front end, removing grille. Press down on the bottom clips w ith a screwdriver. Buy a 5/16th's flat combo ratchette from NAPA.

paint upfront is getting blasted away. Grey primer is vaguely visible under the white topcoat. Wash and repaint with red then white primer followed wi th gloss white Rusto.

There is a problem. The mid level cross member front of the rad is a box be am filled with greasy crud. I can only guess where that came from. There ar e two small sealed boxes at top right and left.

Plan is Simple Green/hot water/soak rinse and repeat then blas Re[lace t with a pressure washer. Blow dry with a yellow bird hair dryer. Repaint s ealing all holes then draining.

The pressure washer get a shot at the two box sections at front frame . Hav e you looked ? That area was painted when new.

Happy Motoring.

ffffffffffffffffff

Removed the black plastic cover surrounding windshield wiper turrets. A lo ng tip narrow diameter Phillips screwdriver, a No 1 ? for screws soaked in silicone spray. Screws could be replaced with SS. Anyone know the thread type from McMaster Carr ? Cover folds inward between hinges under open hood after releasing the hooke d ends. The gasket and cover edge clean with brush n Meguire's car wash.. Metal drain tray is cleaned n inspected...at the ends. Tray here was rust f ree. Reinstall ? I didn't get it right nor do I know what glue for the plastic l id/windshield mating. The reinstalled curve here doesn't match the windshie ld. No, the lid doesn't bend. The drain tube/lid moulding you cleaned runs to small rectangular holes at the fenders. The tube or edge moulding here is too short. Why is this ? The Dodge Boys ? Quality duct tape n a cut off from a poly jug corner should solve shortness or direct flow directly into the hole. There is a seam at the cowl above the engine n 'firewall.' Needs paint or 3 M sealant. Try Levine's truck parts New York/Conn.

Taper bits are outstanding. Motion like painting using an art brush. Buy an extension.

The molding channel drains water off the windshield into two small square holes top fender well needs a tube added for draining into the hole. Placing molding atop the hole doesn't place water down the hole.

Hose windshield see water draining front fender well and rear fender well ? Font drainage is misplaced tube mounting missing the hole. Water goes down into the below battery sump.

Slice off...not the tumb....or scissor a long corner of an isopropyl alcohol bottle, duck tape to the rubber molding so flow goes into the cap.

Necessary checking on the so the prong fits into the cap when hood's closed.

After a rain when a front window opens rain water flows off roof across minimal height rain gutter sides and onto your lap carrying quantities of road dirt, pesticides, hydrocarbons and bird shit.

The 1/16th aluminum trim solves the problem and guides flow down onto the windshield surround. Strap is not filed to curve and end fastened.

Rear door rainwater comes from overflow on the roof channel where water should drain off to the van's sides but drains onto the door seams.

The 2 strap seen screwed to the gutter's side is flush with gutter top waiting for a plastic strip above maybe 3/32" and bottom, a flap of polyester flag cloth shrouding the top door seam.

The rear door area floor was repainted with white Rusto. The floor beam and floor area is sealed with fiberglass and epoxy top and bottom leaving bottom drain holes only.

TESTED the rear door rain gutter extension with Bertha.

Topped the extra width from an aluminum strap, as pictured above, with a prototype ugly long silicone glop abt 3/16th" high.

3/16th's higher drains water off to sides not down the doors then onto the cargo sill.
