Load rating question

If I put LT tires with a D or E rating on my 16 stock wheels, will I be able to fully inflate the LTs?

If the LT's inflate to 70 or 80 psi and the stock wheel is rated to only 65psi, what problem will I have if I inflate to 70 or 80psi?

With the stiffer walls on the LT, I could ride at 65 psi but I'd rather inflate to 70-80.

Thanks

Mark

If your stock wheel (rim) is rated to only 65 psi, do not go over that limit. Just because you "would rather" inflate to 70-80 psi, or because the tire says that is the max pressure, does not mean you are at the correct pressure for that tire, under your load condition. Check the tire manufactures inflation chart. Running over-inflated will reduce tread life and stopping distance. Accordingly, it can also reduce your expected life span.
