Re: Need info on '67 F100

I stopped by the shop after work this evening and took a bunch of pictures of the truck and posted them to my website, if you're interested. Just go to:

See if you think the cab is salvageable...I honestly don't think so. Well, not without a LOT of work which I don't really want to put into this right now. A cab swap could be done in a couple weekends, I'm thinking....not that the welding couldn't be done in that period also. But if I can get another cab for free (or next-to-nothing, which I think I can) then I think it simply makes more sense.

There are probably some better cabs around. On a lot of them, the cab mounts (under the cowl) will be trashy even if the outside looks good. You can patch that, of course.

As far as I'm concerned the absolute best site on the www for all Fords is

If you can get another cab, it would probably be the best route to go. But, you could fix that one if you had to. A lot of work though...:( I got fairly lucky on mine. It was mostly garage kept, and doesn't have a whole lot of rust. I do have some rusted floor pan area on the driver side, but it was patchable with an old license plate...One thing to note, it seems water likes to leak in under the windshield area. I notice on mine, if it really poors, water runs down into the "vent air grille" thing under the wipers, and then it builds up and runs down right on top of where my brake/clutch pedal assembly is mounted. I hope to be able to seal this up pretty soon. But anyway, I bet your's does the same thing being the floor is gone. Overall, it doesn't look too bad. I'd check the kingpins, and other front end parts for slop. I just the whole front end on mine last week. Sure made a lot of difference. I had new metal bushings reamed in, and replaced the axle bushings, radius arm bushings, and all the steering linkage parts. Dumped the old split rims for solid wheels. Then new tires and balance, alignment. I used to have a slight shimmy on the right wheel at 40 mph no matter what tire I had on. It's gone now. Drives like a new truck at all speeds. I'm only the 2nd owner of mine. The old guy I work with bought it new in 68. He had a utility bed mounted on it, which I decided to keep. I've mounted a camper shell on it recently. I don't have many pix of it, but I have one from last years "ham radio field day".

add a white camper shell to the top of the ute bed, and you havethe current look. We are doing field day again this weekend, and Iwill be dragging the tower and beam you see behind the truck out againthis year. I can fit all that in that truck, but this year, I'mrigging up a short trailer to haul the tower. As you can see, mine isnot too bad. A new paint job, and it would look fairly decent. The cabhas no dents to speak of.The interior is ok, and the dash pad is still in pretty good shape.I've got a rebuilt 300 six in it which has about 2900 miles on it sofar. MK

Keith,

let me know if you find out what that lever on the hump is for, i want to know too!! LOL Nice truck. I love the old fords, I have a nice 99 Grand Cherokee right now but still would rather drive an old ford for my daily. Still shopping here, found a 1973 F100 Explorer in decent shape, needs a bed and cab work its long bed with 390, auto, and working AC which blew me away. They want a grand which is decent since it does have ac, I also found a 85 f250 with the 4 speed white (fav car color for me) and decent, bed rusted but can be patched, and they want 895 for it not sure what engine it has yet, but hell a 250 should pull whatever i want :)..... So pickins here are slim but still shopping. I would like a 67 Custom Cab white with a 390, beggars can't be choosers!

I'll bet he had some sort of dumping trailer or something like that. The cable would release the dump perhaps.
