At 125K the transmission is gone. I am over warranty and GM will not do a thing. However there has been 16 TSB's issued for 03 Montana transmissions so this indicates to me there have been issues. Anybody care to comment.
Did you actually expect something from GM? My brother took his 02 Montana in for a buned fuel pump at 25k and they told him that it was caused to bad fuel and made him pay for it. It goes to figure why the last time I walked into a Pontiac dealer there was not a soul.

If they're not going to pay for the intake manifold issue on the 3400 V6, they won't pay for the tranny issue on your Montana. GM ethics. Are you going to get the tranny rebuilt? Or buy a low mileage used tranny? It'd probably be $2000 to have the tranny rebuilt, parts and labor. $1000 for parts/labor to get a used one. Are you a travelling sales rep (wine sales?)? That's a lot of miles.
I really hope all goes well in your case. Have you tried calling GM Oshawa for any help?,,,although it would probably be a waste of time as it was for my brother. Anyhow, he wrote GM a big letter telling them what he thought about his vehicle service,,,especially after they sent him a letter obliging him to service his Montana at GM since he's on a lease, right after they clipped him for his fuel pump failure. We've always had GM at home, and now I look out the window & I see Mazda, Hyundai, Acura & the left overs GM. I'm not saying that I don't like GM,,,I just find they are very unprofessional with their service. As my toy, I have a Corvette & always will, but that's about the only GM I'll ever buy again. I had a Grand Am for over 10 years & replaced it with a Hyundai.....
Did you ever change the fluid? I was surprised on our '02 Olds Silhouette (same van) that the fluid was obviously burnt smelling by 28k miles, well before the manual called for changing it out. GM, like most of the makers, is putting absurdly long intervals in the book for transmission fluid. Once the fluid starts to fail the wear rates go up fast.
Also, as a wine sale rep. did you often run heavily loaded? These consumer vans are not built for constant heavily loaded commercial type service.
