1992 Olds Cutlass Cierra with minor issue

I have reciently aquired a 1992 onlds Cutlass Cierra and am perplexed by its little problem.

The car runs a little sluggishly when cold, almost like there is a missing cylinder, but once the car is warm, the engine runs fine...except that the MIL comes on periodically when the car is cruising around 35-55 and will go off if you slow down. the MIL comming on is not accompanied by any change in the way the car performs, so i have checked the code. It is giving me a code 26, which translates to a Quad-driver error. I have looked all over the internet for suggestions on troubleshooting this issue, and have not come up with anything diffinitive yet. I would venture to bet that it is the EGR control selinoid that is not funtioning correctly, but my readings lead me to believe that this might not be correct. I can not find a diagram that shows what items are controlled by the Quad-driver for this ECM, and so i can not be sure what all i would need to test.

Any help would be appreciated.

after checking under the hood, my original assumption is not valid. the car does not have an EGR valve on it anywhere. I checked around the entire intake manifold, and traced the exhaust all the way back to the firewall. I still am not able to find any sites that show what all is controlled by the quad-driver module in the ecm for this car. I do not have access to a troubleshooting manual that would give me this info.

any assisance on this would be appreciated!!!!

Thanks again!

It seems to me that the types of things the quad drivers might be used for on your vehicle would include the items in the list below. I don't have the diagram for your machine either. This is just guessing on my part based on my understanding of what quad drivers are for.

coolant fan relay fuel injectors air conditioner clutch transaxle converter lockup canister purge solenoid air diverter valve (if equipped) cruise control vent and vacuum solenoids

Ok. Here's my favorite article on code 26.

frequently is a bad ecu.If that vehicle has the ecu under the right kick panel, then takeit out, take it apart, inspect the board for cold solder joints, resolder the bad ones, clean all grounding point on the case and carand reinstall. If that does not work, then it may be a bad ecu.
