Hinges and door locks 0n 2000 Cavalier

Just changed the top and bottom drivers door hinges. I had painted the hinges prior to installing them. Put them on and put everything together and the push button for the door locks (which are electric) and the all the locks don't open or close. If you manually push the little lever to the closed position, and then hit the electric open side, the drivers door will unlock only. Will not make a sound when the close side is pushed. I figured that painting the hinges especially on the mating sides might be interfering with the ground in some magical way, I took them off again and sanded them on those mating sides.Reinstalled them and still have the same problem. Everything worked prior to swapping the hinges. Checked the fuses and even swapped out the passenger side door lock switch and still does the same thing. I know its not the switch because it works fine on the other door. Is there anything else to check guys? Does this system work on the grounding of the door to the body? Many thanks Mike
