LeSabre hood stuck?

1989 Buick LeSabre with stuck hood. This model has the hood that lifts several inches at the front, then is pushed back a bit, then lifted again from the rear side (swinging forward). There doesn't appear to be a way to get to the release with a screw-driver.

How does one pop this sort of hood?

Carbide tipped chain saw, like the fire department uses.

Failing the Carbide tipped chain saw. ...

You could try just behind the lever (if that's where the cable is broken). If so, grab the wire with vise grips and pull while someone depresses the hood.

Failing that. Cut the cable and feed it into the engine compartment while someone reaches up from underneath to pull it down to workable level (can't quite recall the routing on those) but it should go past the washer jug on the drivers side.

Or. (if you can't see it through the grill, remove the grill (in one or many pieces) and then activate the release. It is reachable, just a bit of a B*tch.
