91 hard top on 81?

Not sure on the hard top fitting or not, but if you don't buy it, i'd like to know where it is and a contact number for it.

What did it do, roll down an embankment? How much damage can you do rolling in neutral? A $2500 drop in price implies some pretty major damage, IMHO.

Yup it fits, the tubs are the same. You will have to adjust the windshield rake though likely. Just loosen the two bolts at the top of the quick release bracket, they are oval holes for adjustment. Just did mine today when I switched from soft top and doors to all hard ones.

The YJ hard top back window doesn't have a latch. The tail gate closes on it to keep it shut. I am sure you could rig something up.

Don't think you'd want to come to west coast of Canada and catch two ferries to get it.

Haven't seen it yet, going out tomorrow, but he said it munched the hood, fenders and busted front window and frame. He was renting a house and it sold, so he has to get out and has no where for YJ to go.

Thanks, if top looks good I'll buy it, my tranny and seats are already YJ, may as well carry on, no wait, tranny is TJ. Have to call it franken jeep.

Well, went and looked at that jeep today, guess I should of been more spacific in my questioning of the guy when I called him, it's a cherokee. I looked at add in paper again, it acually says 1991 jeep, doesn't say YJ, but when I called and asked if the hard top was in good shape still, because I was looking for one for my CJ and he said it was, just a scratch were the front windshield and frame broke, well that sure sounded to me like it was a YJ not a cherokee. Oh well, new it had to be too good to be true, damn I already had plans for spring over on my CJ, daughter would of liked engine and tranny.

wow.. thats a lessoned learned.... I bought a 1994 Jeep Wrangler 6 years ago.. the guy needed the money quick .. i got it for 2000.00 its been real good to me.. but I need a new soft top ... its a 94 with full doors.. now im on the hunt... right now its squilling and its not the belt... it comes and goes.. and usually stops when i put the clutch in.. any ideas...

Throwout bearing, or your flywheel's pilot hole bushing is dry, assuming the squeal is from the rear of the engine. Gotta pull the transmission, and while it's out, replace the clutch and resurface the flywheel.

hard top wont fit

The Jeep turned out to be a Cherokee the OP said, but the YJ top will fit on the CJ tub. You have to make a latch and I think even a friend put a rubber skirt on the edge of the back door maybe to stop drafts.

Other than that the shape is the same. He would have likely had to adjust the windshield rake, but I have to do that on mine every swap over to soft.
