Dealer Price on hard top for 98 TJ is $1100?

It's possible that he has one laying around, and wants it out of the way. That is real cheap for an oem top. I'd jump on it, but make sure it is a mopar top, and not steel horse or something cheap like that.

This just seems way too cheap.. I just called my dealer, asked for a price on a new factory hard top for my TJ, and the guy said "$1100.00". Is this possible? That sounds about $600.00 cheaper than any OEM top I've heard of before. Is it possible he confused it with something else?

Thanks, Pete

Yeah.. I'm definitely going to have to stop in and take a look (if it's actually on-site). I was going to order something after-market, possibly a "two-piece" hardtop, and just figured I'd call and see what the Dealer wanted for a new one-piece factory top, and BAM. $1100 he says and I'm woo-hooing all over the place, if that's correct. (But it just seems a bit too cheap.. something fishy is smellin' up da place) *heh*

I wonder if that has the rear wiper, defroster, and the wiring harness for your Jeep as well... Hmm... Where IS this dealer of yours? Muahhahaha

It could be that someone ordered it, and did not pick it up. This means the dealer is stuck with it and just wants to move it out. Also mopar has a huge mark up so you could be getting it at cost. Just make sure all the parts are there and it is complete. These roofs take up a lot of space so he just wants it out of the shop.

damn if someone ordered it and didn't pick it up they're out like $1500 You have to pay up front for anything you have a dealer order for you.

If that's the case they'd just dismantle a softtop off of one of their stock put the hardtop on it and sell it as a Jeep that includes both tops with requisite markup of course. But then again maybe I'm giving them too much credit for brains.
