Bead lock

I have a TJ 2002 with 33" bfg muds and am running it with the stock rims (15 x8) I keep having the problem that I break the bead everytime I go offroading. There is a lot of mud and rocks and I air down to about

12psi. Does anyone run bead locks on there daily driver? I know it is not DOT approved, what about the fake bead locks? Some of them look good, are they just for show or do they really hold the tire in place.

I have the same issues. Too much traction for our dirt. That is why I don't air down normally or if I do I don't drop below 20 psi.

Fake beadlocks are just that.. fake. they will not do anything more to hold your tire on. Try a little more air in your tires to hold them on tighter. Or step up to 2 sets of wheels, some that are DOT approved for daily driving and some that are beadlocked and then you can drop them to much lower pressure for getting serious.

They are exactly as you said, FAKE. They do not hold the tire because it they did, they would not be fake, they would be real. I air down to the pressures you describe, and I never blow a bead. Well, I blew the bead the time I rolled ...

another reason to run wider tires. with 33x12.5's on 15x8's I dont lose beads at anything over 5 lbs (granted, I run super swampers now).

the fake beadlocks are totally worthless IMO. and, like you said, you cant run the real thing on the street.

There are DOT approved beadlock. The tire is placed between metal and rubber, instead of metal and metal.

Hey Mike last time I checked fixing the bead was cheaper then replacing the hub! LOL - Maybe you should wear running shoes when offroading and not those lead shoes! hahahaha
