General Jeep Questions

It is clear that you have not read much of the Idiot's post's. A goodly portion of it is wrong and if followed my the inexperienced, dangerous. Those post's warrant a speedy and corrective reply imo. Everybody has to deal with the bs to suit themselves. Net nanny's, well......................

Yeah ... Bill is a lost cause. I checked out his website. If had a wife that looked like that, I need an outlet to vent my bitterness too.

Keep up the good work, Mike. It may not be appreciated by the self appointed net nannys, but it is appreciated by those that would have followed or passed on Snotard's advice had you not said something.

Trust me, I understand the frustration, but you are beating your head and in doing so, clogging up the group as much as some other posters. I have no hope of making this request to the Troll, Bill or Snoman as they would not see the other side, but I think you might.

To be honest, it's not your initial post calling "BS" on his posts, but the subsequent insanity that progresses and escalates from there and the thread is destroyed. Each thread turns into a screaming match. I'm just asking for some restraint so this does not occur. You're letting yourself get sucked in. We all get pissed off at morons on the Usenet, myself included. However, I think it's become the rule not the exception which is killing this group. You're not the main problem, but you've become a major player in the game.

Well in all honesty I haven't been following this group for close to a year because I was Jeepless so I'm not sure how the war between Mike and Bill started, nor am I sure what the deal is with the weird spam posts from 24 Bit, etc. However, having owned two old and worn out Jeeps in the past and me not knowing the first thing about fixing them properly, I always turn here for advice and have gotten plenty of helpful advice from both Mike and Bill that has bailed me out of numerous expensive repair costs (and actually one time perhaps saving my life (the whole thread about joining towstraps together awhile back)). So, I for one, regardless of the personal war, welcome both people to post in my threads as I value their input very much.

So thank you to both. It's a shame there is so much fighting and spam in here - it truely is a great group with great people who are the reason the Jeep community is so much fun to be a part of. Just to relay one quick instance - when I first bought my '88 YJ years back, I did not know that "4x4" with stock diffs was a bit of an illusion if a front wheel and a rear wheel are free to spin. I was driving over a small snow patch and got hung with one of each wheels in the air. Keep in mind it was early Jan/Feb in winter in Winnipeg where I live (i.e., -30C or worse) and without even asking, some guy gets into his Cherokee, drives over to me, and pulls me out. From that moment on I bought a towstrap and always carried it with me, willing to help anyone who was in need of a tow.

So kudos to all Jeepers with a heart, a tow strap, and a piece of good advice.

Thanks also to all replies to the questions I asked initially. I'd like to follow the "3rd time's a charm" rule and get a good Jeep this time around.

Bill and I don't have any fight going on, only a disagreement over his latest posting practices and this group's Charter...

I said my piece or two and have given up on him.

Ahh I see. Initially I thought all his posts (in reply to 24 Bit) were spam posts from someone else pretending to be him ...

Unfortunately and almost unbelievably all Bill on some kind of misguided crusade.... :-(

True. But just because I post in a "mostly civil" manner does not mean I can't stoop to usenet tricks. Thing is the trolls will have to be a lot more skilled and the flames better thought out to get anything more than an ehh out of me.

Hi Griffin, Thanks for your compliment. Many are fraudulent post pretending to be me, as Google will report their suspensions, but both COX and this Teranews servers have blocked most of them because of my reporting of their abuses:

There you go again, making quotes you have no clue about. Your only problem is you're still breathing air!

My parents taught me to be responsible for myself, to be a man and not afraid of anyone. So, like them I'm listed in the phonebook. The Map was to help those that would like to meet me, and go four wheelin'. So Denny what are you so.... afraid of?????? God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O mailto: snipped-for-privacy@aol.com

Well Bill, I like to think I'm a bit on the resonsible side myself but I sure don't like to advertise to all the loonies of the world where I sleep at night. I too am listed in the phone book. I have business cards with my home number on them and if someone wants to share in my hobby, I have no problem giving them directions. But I sure as hell not posting them in the middle of a thread that's mostly a pissing contest. So am I afraid of something or just being cautious.... what do you think...

Denny

You expect him to be able to think?? Now he's wanting men over for a slumber party. He's almost made it out of the closet.

If more were Americans like me and took responsibility for themselves we wouldn't have all these cowards in this group. If some crazy visits me, Darren will endure, and we'll have one less socialist on welfare. God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O mailto: snipped-for-privacy@aol.com
