I want to tell you how I came to own a Jeep. Dont stop reading its kind of entertaining. My wife and I inherited our Jeep. So far our out of pocket expenses come to $497CDN. The Jeep is a 1974 cj-5. It is in original condition, its even got the original brakes in it. It has a
304 and the 3spd and it has 42000 miles. on it. It has never been winter driven or driven in the rain (the first owner was a little strange). It has the original soft top too. I was a little dubious about it being original given that it is black and black was not a color option in 1974. It turns out that, according to the original sales reciept, that the Jeep was factory ordered in black. I have included a picture because I am fairly excited about it. The history of the Jeep is strange. It has been in pieces since 1986. The two previous owners wanted to restore it but had little time. The gentleman that we inherited it from, my wifes Uncle Bob, hired a certified mechanic to reassemble it just prior to his death. He had the opportunity to drive it for only a few weeks. The whole senario under which we inherited it are a little strange too. I was looking for a Land Cruiser at the time. Uncle Bob chastised me. While he was alive we teased each other about Jeeps and Land Cruisers. You see, my very first vehicle was a LC. I have owned 3 in my life. I am a firm believer in destiny and coincidence, and I have to admit there are some things that I like more about the jeep than I liked about the LC. Rest assured, the Jeep, now called UB (Uncle Bob) will see rain and mud and more. After all Jeeps are meant to be driven. There are some mods that I want to perform first. The first is a spray in bedliner inside and on the bottom of the tub. Soon we will be hitting the trails.Thanks for you patience. I will be imposing on the group for its advice off and on.
