Looks like I found part or all of my Clutch problem

Took apart the clutch linkage today to find the bushings in one side of the linkage was completely worn out, the pivot bracket ball on the same side was worn half way through, the holes the rod pivots on is worn. More or less need to replace the complete linkage assembly. I'm amazed that the R&R guys who put my engine in didn't catch this. I hope for the day when I can afford a home with a garage so I can maintain my own quality standard.



On a similar note I found the top bolt holding in the short pivot bracket (the one that bolts into the tranny housing) was stripped out. What's a good fix for this? Should I tap it out to the next size up? How much "play/expandability" does the bolt holes in the tranny housing have?

Remember that these are the same guys that put yor head bolts in the wrong place. As far as the stripped out thread, put a heli-coil in it. You just buy a kit with the inserts and a special tap.

Hi Chris,

Actually, these are the guys that found that the head bolt was in the wrong place when they went to install the engine. The engine rebuilder put the head bolt in the wrong place.

On all the ones I have seen, that top hole is a hole. It takes a bolt and nut.

I just had to get a clutch setup for a gent. The whole linkage kit was $120.00 I think. It came with all the parts, but I could have bought the pieces individually.

Not that I'm shilling for them or anything, but 4WD lists that kit for about $75US. Is the difference between that and your price in the US >>
