NV 1500 5sp. lube

May 24, 2004 8 Replies

Hi all, I have a '04 Wrangler with a NV 1500 5sp. transmission. I want to change the gear lube/oil, but what does it take? I've been told that it's only available through the dealer, but then the dealer didn't have any and wasn't sure that's what it took. I want to drain and refill with a good synthetic...something.

Pennzoil "Syncromesh" Manual Transmission Fluid meets the specs for NVG transmissions.

Thanks Bill,

That's more information than I've obtained in four weeks!!! I also found a product made by Deep Purple called "Syncromax" that is suppose to work. It's a synthetic gear oil. The trouble with Deep Purple is that nobody in my area sells it.

Thanks Matt,

Sorry I'm late replying, that's great information on my NV 1500's gear oil. I also found a company called Deep Purple who make an oil called "Syncromax" that may work in the NV 1500. It's a synthetic gear oil, but nobody sells it in my area

Thanks again, Tom T

What the Hell is an NV1500?

This looks like another candidate for the fish pond....
