Moose are bigger, but I don't think they hang out around that little crack in the ground that is just there for the folks who don't know how to find Canyonlands.

What about those of us who don't enjoy destroying our Jeeps and just want a vehicle that really goes anywhere we want--with the top down?

Or those of us who inherited the family jeep in 1975 (it was 19 years old, I was 21) and kept it till '92. I went without for a while and just got a great deal on a '01 Sahara with only 10K on it (5 speed with D44 thank you). Am I no longer a "Jeeper" because I've been gone a while and now own a luxury liner with an injected 4.0 instead of a bare bones CJ with an F head. I gotta tell you I test drove my Jeep on a whim just to see what DC had done to them, 2 hours of haggling later it was in the garage, I never felt so at home. As soon as the warantee is up it will change, until then the dealer is getting no outs from me on any necessary repairs. Cheers Dave Shannon (Spring Valley CA) '01 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

No, but it is rather elitist! In my opinion, anyone who drives a real Jeep (I don't mean Liberties and Grand Cherokees - not that I have anything against those people) is a special person who has the desire to be part of a club of people who don't buy into the crossover SUV/family wagon thing. We own very capable off-road machines (some more capable than others) that simply aren't the easiest vehicles to live with. BUT, we have chosen such a vehicle. Many of us spend our life savings modifying them. Many more of us just drive them. Most of us will never go off-road very far, if at all. However, a CJ/MB/Wrangler is a special vehicle that the common public doesn't understand owning. Many of my friends think my YJ is the loudest (it's a soft top), roughest riding vehicle they've ever ridden in, but she's my baby - 10 years old (bought new) and running tough. I'd only consider getting another Jeep. It's my daily transportation and, yes, I _have_ driven mine off-road. My friends say they'd never pay so much to own a new Jeep - that it's too bare bones for that price. However, I'd spend it in a heartbeat. It's this attitude...this love for such an unlovable creature that deserves to display the slogan "It's a Jeep Thing...You Wouldn't Understand!"
