This problem has got worse over the last year. The started will sometimes (most times now) just spin without turning the motor. I took the starter off and tested it on the bench and it appears to be fine. After removing the inspection plate I can see one place where a couple of the teeth are broke off. Questions:
1 - Is there a gear in the starter that could be worn out - the spindle spins free until the solenoid shoves it forward.
2 - Can the ring gear on the fly-wheel be changed, or does the whole fly-wheel have to be replaced.
