My thinking exactly. I buy vehicles either to do a job or for my own amusement, no one else's.

Most of the huge Power Stroke and Durmax and Cummins Dodge trucks I see spend most of their time doing a job a Geo Metro could do as well-hauling one person, no cargo. And those that do work are often doing a job, like hauling a race car or horse trailer, a medium duty is really called for.

Bill. (rant on) We all know you drink diesel and love 18 wheelers but hate diesel cars. But for the record, the first VW rabbit in the US was in 1977 and they remained till the end of the rabbit and continued in the golfs and jettas. They were gone from 1993 till 1996 when the electronic tdi version first appeared in the Passat. Also the state of the art TDI version is direct injected, common rail, turbocharged with a intercooler and is a "drive by wire" design with a catalic converter. I once traveled just over a thousand miles on one tank in my passat so I also could "choose what town" I wanted to buy fuel in. While we're talking about fuel if you truckers would stop complaining about price and complain about the low quality of the fuel and scrap all those old Mack smooke belching relics, we would all be better off. And it's the people using fuel oil to heat their houses in the New England states that cause the price of diesel to go up. "Supply and demand" as you so rightly put it. And also I'm not a bleeding heart liberal and I do understand. If I could get a late model Cherokee diesel that was built 100 miles from here but not sold in the US I would quickly do so. But in my mind the " girly" libby is just another suv wanna be and can't hold a candle to a Cherokee for practicality. If it could there would be one in my driveway. Every one of my 12 or so VW diesels averaged over 40 mpg and that sure beats the 20 mpg at tops on my XJ that weights the same as my last jetta that averaged over 49 mpg for over

I remember in 89 or 90 some religious goofball predicted a major earthquake on the New Madrid at a specfic date and time, because the Scriptures foretold it. Sure enough, the day came and went, nothing. That didn't stop a whole bunch of folks in the area to panic, buy up earthquake insurance, and plan to leave town prior to that date. I was living in Nashville at the time and when traveling to Memphis I stopped at a restaurant and the whole family in the next booth was discussing where they were going to go for the earthquake.

Well, I think you are right with the possibility of with two excptions. They don't always have a six o'clock shadow AND theydon't leave the seat up LOL
