My neighbor just got a four inch lift for his Jeep but has not bought new tires yet. He would like to get the BFG 33X9.50's and use his stock wheel. Has anyone done this with the stock wheel. I know the 33X12.50's will not fit but not sure of the thinner tires. Will he be able get this tire on the Jeep without rubbing after the lift goes on?

I have 33x10.50s on stock wheels on my XJ with a comparable lift. At full turn, the inside tire rubs the lower control arm. Only happens at very low speed so it's really no big deal.
My steering stops were seized, so I didn't bother adjusting them to stop the rub. Eventually I'll get some wheels with 4.5" or 4.75" backspacing to restore my turn radius, but for now the rubbing is easily avoided by knowing the limit.
Not sure about the TJ geometry, but the thinner tire let me get away with alot less fender cutting than if I had gone 33x12.50. I would have gone 33x9.50, but BFG no longer offers it in the mud terrain model.
