What did everybody get for Jeepmas?

I am giving myself a re-gear from the dreaded 3.07 to 4.10's. Plus True-Trak LSD's front and rear and full diffy rebuilds. Should be a whole new experience when I get 'er back!

Do LSD's in front AND back help alot? I have one in back, was thinking in front, too, but was worried about the effect on steering, if any.

Please educate me.

Awesome!

You will love Topo 4. If you plan on taking your laptop wheeling, make sure and *really* secure the power jack and battery. Getting "jiggy" with those contacts usually gets you a blue screen of death!

Oops, my bad. When people think of shackles, they think of them thingies that hold the leaf springs. I meant a pair of ARB shackles, like the kind you use for recovery gear (the two pieces in the lower left of this pic:

Oops. *Your* bad! ;-)

Traction bar, not track bar. Like you, I tossed my trackbar almost as soon as I got the Jeep. But a *traction* bar is for controlling axlewrap, or twisting of the springs during takeoff, due to oversized tires, and exaggerated by SOA setups.

My springs are fatiguing so I am now feeling this axle wrap. It causes the rear and to dip down unless I baby the gas from a stop.

So the traction bar stops the axle tube from twisting axially, yet still allows it to articulate and go through its other motions.

See my response to Terry; he thought I meant "track bar" instead of "traction bar".

And a partridge in a pear tree! ;-)

Hey, I'll bet you drove it after that and it felt like it drove way better. Sometimes it's the little things that count.

Well, how about I send you the Jeep hat I got? The one with a happy face and five o'clock shadow?

( I made a nice face and noises when I got it for Xmas). ;-)

My local Jeep club uses it on runs for advising bypasses and stopping points, but mainly for trivia questions and silly chatter; pretty fun!

Hmmm...... No jeep stuff..... But I did get an envelope with some legal papers stuffed inside. Thats what happens when you loose your temper and smack a lawyer. You get sued. Oh well.......I'll get over it.

Happy Jeepin' New Year......

Ah yes, I'm with ya now on the traction bar! I think my project this spring will be to do an SOA. I've been eyeing the RE 1.5" YJ springs for this application. Which springs are you using now? Since they are fatiguing, are you considering replacing them?

No effect in most cases. You might understeer a little on sloppy surfaces, but I have LSD front and rear on my 98 and it's great on and off the road.

I usually do that by loosening the screws but that would be a lot quicker. -Thanks

How does a LSD up front affect steering, if at all? Is it a worthwhile addition?

Just the ones that came with it, installed by a previous owner. They gave it a 2.5" lift. Unidentifiable otherwise.

Mmm, sorta. I want to see what this traction bar addition does first. I also have air springs installed and the ride is quite nice.

Ah! You mean the new Nat Geographic ones, then. I got California and Oregon. And velcro all over the bottom of my PowerBook to help keep it secure!
