That page says the xfer case in a '76 CJ is a "Quadratrac"
But this page:
What is a "Quadratrac?" Anyone have a webpage address that has specs on it? I guess to be sure what I have on my '76 CJ5 I'll have to crawl up under there and look at it closely and check to see if it looks like the Dana 20 pictured on the website mentioned above. Thank you.

The quadratrac was used with automatic transmissions and is considered a full time transfer case. I believe the rear differential was offset to the passenger side when used.

Thank you for the information.

"Quadratrac" was a late 70s full-time four wheel drive scheme. It was only available with the automatic transmission models, and CJ-5s didn't come with autos (too little space for the tailshaft). Quadratrac was a chain-drive system, and came from the factory equipped with crying towels and automatic wallet openers.
