winch/lift 05 tj

Oct 20, 2005 5 Replies

Folks,

Just had a warn winch installed on my 05 tj. Garage suggests a lift package next. $1250 for a package deal. $750 for the 4 inch suspension lift, and $500 for labor. Do I have to do this? If so, then what company would you recommend for the parts, ie Quadratec has several lift kits available and I am totally confused.

thanks

Can somebody translate Bill's response for me? :-)

A winch or a plow has a lot of weight. It will push the front of the vehicle down on the suspension and make it ride lower. This is bad for handling, wear on components, and suspension geometry. To compensate, you need to install some kind of suspension upgrade that will at least restore the stock height and suspension travel. (If you try to overcompensate by lifting above the stock height, you may experience other problems.)
