'05 Sedona hood damage

My new 2005 Sedona LX suffered damage to the hood when a large block of ice flew off the car's roof in front of me slamming into my hood. The damage is small ripples in the metal about 6 inches long. There was no damage to the paint and it is hard to see unless you are looking at a reflection in the surface.

I took it to a body shop and they wanted to glaze/putty the ripples and repaint to hood which I would prefer not to do.

Does anyone know if those paintless dent removal places can remove small ripples? Here is a photo of the damage, it appears in the photo that there is a large dent between the washer nozzle and the windshield but it is just a reflection. The ripples are all there is.

Depending on where the bracing is on the underside of your hood, a

*good* bodyshop may be able to have go from underneath the hood and "tap out" the ripples. Even if there's a brace right under the ding, I'd bet that they can drill a small hole in it to allow their tool to get to the upper sheetmetal.

When I bought my new KIA Spectra last year, I noticed a good sized door ding in it when I saw it in the daylight for the first time. I told the dealership that I wouldn't accept the vehicle with the ding, nor if it had to be repainted to correct it.

They said "Don't worry", and then they took it to a specialist at a local bodyshop that popped it out from behind. You'd never know that there was ever a ding there! I was totally satisfied with the results.

So..... that's my recommendation. Let us know on here how it turns out!
