110 ignition lock

I had a bit of a problem getting the key to turn in the ignition lock today, it had been becoming a bit erratic for a while with the starter position losing its contact during churning the V8 over. I guess it's simply worn out.

I'm hoping I can change the barrel and switch but does anyone have any pointers?

Easy job, take cowl off pin punch the blind bolts loose (they may already be loose) & take old one off, make sure the peg for steering lock is located right & refit.

Takes about 20 minutes.

and make sure you replace the indicator knock off ring correctly - get it upside down and you will notice the difference cos your indicators wont stay on properly!!!!

I think it's only essential for removing the stalk unit.

It's even easier if it's an ex MOD 110, like mine!

I'll use the excuse that I drive a number of different vehicles and as my old s3 had a lock I assumed the 110 did and hadn't twigged why it never came on.

Anyway my mate fetched the new assembly from DLR and I was going to collect it but went out to fit some xmas lights for my daughter first. Switch finally packed up when I tried to leave her house and I took the cover off, lo and behold a simple switch and no lock! I managed to get home by holding it together but it got very hot. I expect I have a spare from the 101 that will be a direct replacement and with luck I'll get a refund from DLR.
