have got a 1994 200tdi 110. when i bought it the low box would not work. on speaking to bloke i bought it off he said that he was in low box and it came out of it never to go back in again. the high/ low lever is very sloppy and if i knock it in to neutral it even has trouble going in to high. once it is in it will stay there. any suggestions.

Sounds like some investigation may be in order. Can you check the linkages, I'd suspect a linkage / detent spring but it's a guess. Someone who has had experience may be along shortly.

Have a look at the clevis at the gearbox end of the linkage - that's the usual suspect.
