300Tdi auto engine to Defender LT77. Is it possible?

People Hi,

can a 300Tdi engine that was fitted to Range Rover Classic with a ZF autobox be easily mated to an LT77 gearbox on a D90 that was originaly mated to a

2.5 TD (19J) engine? If yes what components may be required apart from the different radiator and intercooler assembly and the different engine to chassis mounts that will have to be welded? Is there any need to change the bellhousing of the LT77 gearbox or can it be used on the 300Tdi? Any other bits being different?

I know a 200Tdi is a straight swap but this 300Tdi engine is readily available. Unless someone has a 200Tdi Defender engine up for sale at a very good price, including the radiator etc.

Take care and thanks in advance for your kind input Pantelis

Not sure about the auto bits but a 300TDi will fit to a LT77 if you fit the flywhell housing off the 19J engine. Presumeably the flywheel will fit, try it and see. For advice on this look here
