+ses Great fun Parts and advice readily available Shorter and therefore easier to park that a 110 More economical than a 110 (just) Less windows to scrape ice off than a 110 (inside and out!)
-ses Not fun when it breaks (probably often) Parts and advice needed readily Shorter than a 110 Will stain your driveway
Have fun, Stew
Jeffrey came up with the following;:
+sesEasy spares availability and maintenance.

Need for easy spares availability and maintenance ... ;)
Depends why you want one, I guess ... ;)
If you want one to look good and look like an off-roader then fine, doesn't matter much, but if it is mainly for road use then don't get off-road tyres, you'll regret it just from road noise alone, let alone grip etc.
If you want one as a real off-roader, then get one that hasn't been tricked up to look like an off-roader, unless you know it's been done properly to actually go off-road. If you don't know what 'properly' is, don't.
Saw a lovely one the other day, winch, snorkel, 35" tyres, quards, Jate rings etc. Spoke to the owner, as you do, to discuss local 'places' and clubs etc, but it and he had never been off-road ... ever. I felt such a fool, with my muddy Disco ... ;)
Do you mean Brand new or new to you? How many miles a year? And do you like comfort / luxuries of modern cars??
If Brand new - It'll still leak, still be cold in winter until it warms up (not wanting to state the obvious)... but the heaters take AGES to get warm.
If you like mod cons... look towards a disco - even new ones are basic.
If your not talking about brand new, they are all more or less the same - you pays your money and takes your chance. Buy something that hasnt been tricked up to look the part with crap components.
Deals are there to be had if you look hard enough... then the fun begins.
Enjoy!
There's always a clue - if the accessories are shiney, they are not used. It it looks standard and it's smashed to bits, it is used as Our Lord Wilkes intended (Que mobs of Discovery owners oustide Embassies etc.)
