90 speedo

Jan 01, 2004 2 Replies

I have a 1986 with a 3.5 V8 in (was a 2.5 petrol) and a 4 speed auto box. Tyres are 31 x 10.5 R 15 BFG all terrain t/a. Just been out with the 90 with the wife following in our Discovery and differance in speedo readings was: Disco 80mph, Ninety 66mph and Disco

39mph, Ninety 32mph. What do I have to do to make the 90 speedo more accurate, change the speedo or can i change the gearing for the speedo? I know the Disco readings are probably not accurate but the 90 is reading too much under, would rather it was the other way! Thanks Richard

Change your speddo's gearing, I believe there to be 3 modification gears you can use that you should be able to get form any decent Land Rover outlet. The problem could also be down to the fact that you are running on 15" wheels rather than the standard 205/16.

Hope this gives you a little pointer

I believe you can change the speedo drive gear to one designed for the 110, which has larger tyres as standard. Maybe someone else can give details. JD
