Billing Offroad course accident?

I cant answer your original query, but up here in the North West, the Air Ambulance will be dispatched to RTA's, Off road incidents, major incidents and other difficult access incidents as a matter of course. No matter how minor or major the injuries are. Its sometimes a quicker way to get advances medical aid to the scene of an accident, rather than wait for a land ambulance.

Slightly different here in Norfolk. We had a friend doing some tree work in our garden. He slipped and the chainsaw went into his wrist doing a lot of damage. Wife got to him to stop the bleeding whilst I went call 999. Got apologies about the delay in answering my call - it seemed like a lifetime..... Anyway minutes later the air ambulance was hovering overhead. We signalled to let him know he was in the correct location. The paramedics arrived and they contacted the air ambulance and made the necessary arrangements. It is policy for the accident to be evaluated by the ground crew before the air ambulance will land. In the heat of the moment I never got round to asking why.

It was touch and go but the hand was saved. Six months later he came and finished the job! I've not been near a chainsaw since......
